Despite their size,mountains are coninuously underattack.

And the force that can eventually destroy thehighest peak

Mountains created the very rain that attacks them.

The higher mountains are pushed up,

the higher the air is forced to rise to cross them.

so the air cools and condenses into clouds,which produce: rain.

And it is surprising just how effective the power of water can be.

This gorge is hundreds meters deep.

It was carved out by New Zealand's Shotover River,

As rivers erode the rock,
