This is our planet just 50 million years after itformed.

It's thought that back then Earth had a twin, Theia.

據(jù)分析那時候地球有個孿生星球，叫西亞

The two planets were born in similar orbits.

這兩個星球誕生在類似的軌道位置

The result, 3catastrophic collision.

Theia was obliterated,leaving a ring of debris orbiting the Earth.

This may have been a vital first stepin creating the conditions for complex life.

That's because Earth consumed a part of its twin,

The result was to increase the pull of Earth's gravity.
