形容一個地方很偏僻，除了用“It's off the beaten track.”之外，還可以說“It's in the middle of nowhere.”如果在美國緬因州詢問當地人如何去一個偏僻的地方，對方可能會說“You can't get there from here”(你從這里到不了那里）

A: How was your road trip?

你的公路旅行怎么樣？

B: It was a nightmare, never again.

真是一場噩夢，別再有下次了。

A: What happened? I thought you said it would be the trip of a lifetime.

發(fā)生什么事了？我記得你說過，那會是一場畢生難得的旅行。

B: It was one disaster after another from the moment we left.

從我們出發(fā)的那一刻起，麻煩事就接二連三的發(fā)生。

A: That's a shame, do tell.

真是遺憾，你就說說吧。

B: We had a blow out after an hour of driving and then ran out of gas a few hours later.

我們開了一個小時后就爆胎了，幾個小時后就沒油了。

A: Didn't you take a Jerrycan of gas?

你們沒帶一罐五加侖的汽油嗎？

B: No, I didn't think of it. Then we ran into a wild deer at sunset.

沒有，我沒想到要帶，接著我們在日落的時候撞上了一頭野鹿。

A: Didn't you slow down at dusk? That's when all the wild animals start roaming onto the roads.

黃昏的時候，你沒有減速嗎？所有的野生動物都在那個時候開始在馬路上游蕩。

B: Oh, I didn't know that. Then we camped by a river and were eaten alive by mosquitoes.

啊，我不知道。后來，我們在河邊露營，活生生地被蚊子大快朵頤。

A: No insect repellent?

沒帶防蟲液嗎？

B: Nope, didn't think I'd need it.

沒有，當初以為我不需要。
