美國科研人員開發(fā)應(yīng)用翻譯嬰兒哭聲

Babies don't come with a manual, but a new app is helping to take some of the guesswork out of their cries.

嬰兒啼哭的原因令人費解，不過一款名為ChatterBaby的新應(yīng)用可幫助人們從其哭泣中獲得某些信息。

The app is the brainchild of a doctor at the UCLAalong with a team of volunteers.

該應(yīng)用是加州大學洛杉磯分校一位博士和一組志愿者智慧的結(jié)晶。

Known as Chatter Baby, the free app was initially created to help deaf parents figure out what their child needs.

他們最初設(shè)計這款免費應(yīng)用是想幫助失聰父母了解孩子的需求。

But even people with full hearing have trouble differentiating between whether junior's hungry, fussy or in pain.

不過就算是聽力正常的人也很難區(qū)分嬰兒到底是饑餓、不滿還是痛苦。

The team developed an algorithm that identified the characteristics of each type of cry, like changes in pitch, frequency, pauses. Using this information, the algorithms nearly correctly identified features of cries.

該研究小組研發(fā)出一種算法，可以識別出每種哭聲的特征，如音高、頻率、停頓等方面的變化。通過這些信息，算法基本能準確地分辨嬰兒啼哭的特征。

The creator hopes this app will also help users identify autism in their children earlier.

開發(fā)者希望此應(yīng)用也能夠幫助用戶更早地辨別出孩子是否患有自閉癥。
