① at the beginning指時間的開始，如星期、學期、年月等的開始，相當于 at the start。

He formulated a plan of study at the beginning of the new term. 新學期開始，他制訂了學習計劃。

② in the beginning意為“起初”，指一件事情的開端，相當于 at first。
