[00:08.15]Should We Highly Value Scores in Our Study?
[00:12.68]Nowadays, most of the university students
[00:16.78]are striving for good scores.
[00:19.33]Should scores be highly valued?
[00:21.70]Different people have different answers.
[00:24.99]The supporters say yes because scores are
[00:28.23]of crucial importance in each step of further study.
[00:31.21]Without good marks one may fail in many competitions
[00:35.20]such as the entrance examination for postgraduate.
[00:39.68]However, the opponents say no
[00:42.73]as scores could not reflect one's real study level and high scores
[00:47.64]can often be obtained through mechanical memorization.
[00:51.44]For my part,
[00:53.10]scores are one of the CRIteria for judging students' studies
[00:57.39]in that they reveal a student's ability of learning
[01:01.00]and attitude toward his study to some extent.
[01:04.92]However, we should not emphasize scores too much.
[01:09.15]Excellent scores do not necessarily mean excellent students
[01:14.19]because practical ability,
[01:16.67]personality and morality also count in the judging
[01:21.53]a student's comprehensive capability.
[01:24.20]Therefore, we should value scores in our study,
[01:27.81]but not consider scores as the only thing that matters.
