The clouds now rolled in volumes over the mountain tops; their summits still bright and snowy, but the lower parts of an inky blackness.

云層翻卷滾過道道山巒，峰頂明晃晃地刺眼，峰巒下端黢黑模糊連成一片。

The rain began to patter down in broad and scattered drops;

雨滴噼里啪啦地落下，濺起大朵水珠，

the wind freshened, and curled up the waves;

風，愈發(fā)清新，騰起高聳連天的浪花，

at length, it seemed as if the bellying clouds were torn open by the mountain tops, and complete torrents of rain came rattling down.
