詞組講解

1. give it to sb. straight / give it to sb. ** 對(duì)某人直言;責(zé)罵某人

解 〈口〉習(xí)語(yǔ);詞義溯源:將[它(it)][直接地、坦率地(straight)]告訴某人

例 I think it would be better to just give it to Bob straight. If we try to conceal anything, he'll find out what the truth is later and then he'll never trust us again.

2. give one an inch, and one will take a mile / if you give one an inch, one will take a mile ** 得寸進(jìn)尺,貪得無(wú)厭
