1. make a long story short ** 長話短說，概述

解 習(xí)語；詞義溯源：把［較長的故事（a long story）］變成［短的（short）］；一般用to...的形式作為獨(dú)立結(jié)構(gòu)

例 I told Shilling that I couldn't come to the restaurant to help him as I had my hands tied by obligations at the office. Then ten minutes later my mother called me starting giving me hell for not helping out enough with the family restaurant.
