In future we will come to a new unit. However I am just as the same to let the answers out in the open to the translation exercises left in the last programme. Last time we learned two sentence patterns: 1 If S had done, S would be doing . 2 If S had done, S would do.這兩個句式是假設過去的情況如何，現(xiàn)在的情況如何。但是句中所講的過去的情況與過去的事實相反，現(xiàn)在的情況又與現(xiàn)在的事實相反。

【習題答案及點評】

1 如果你那時更努力一點的話，你現(xiàn)在的情況會好得多。

If you had worked harder, your condition would be much better.

1 該句子中有很明顯的時間狀語“那時”“現(xiàn)在”，因此用錯綜虛擬條件句。

2 此句話言外之意就是：You didn't work harder then and your condition isn't much better now.

2 如果你那時聽了醫(yī)生的勸告，你現(xiàn)在就好了。

If you had followed the doctor's order, you would be all right.

2 此句話言外之意就是：She didn’t prepare well for the lesson yesterday and she isn't answering the teacher’s question now.

【今日主題】

I am about to have a sentence pattern out. It is : S wish S was ( were ) . 這個句式是表示某人希望某人或某事在現(xiàn)在或者是將來的情況如何。In this sentence "wish" means "to want something to happen or to be true even through it is unlikely or impossible". 希望(不大可能的事兒)發(fā)生，懷著(不可能實現(xiàn)的)愿望。 S was ( were )...是這個句子的賓語從句，因此從句中要用虛擬語氣：表示某人純然主觀的想法，這個事情發(fā)生的可能性微乎其微或者是不可能發(fā)生的。

光陰似箭，一直擔任俄羅斯國家芭蕾團首席的Jane要退役了，她對將頂替她這個首席職位的年輕演員說道：I wish I were as young as you. (備注：were可以改為was )真希望我和你一樣年輕。

Here I want to say S wish S was ( were )... 這個句型中， "was" is often used in American English and "were" is often used in British English. And " S was ( were )..." is an object clause introduced by that which is nearly always left out , especially in speech. 在英式英語中，賓語從句中的系動詞用were, 而在美式英語中常用 was. 此外， S was ( were )...是由that 而引導的一個賓語從句，that經(jīng)常省去，特別是在口語中。

The above sentence "I wish I were as young as you." 這個賓語從句中講述的是一種狀態(tài)，如果我們要說“動作”了，the sentence pattern is : S wish S did. (備注：這個did指的是動詞的任何過去形式，一般過去式，過去進行時等等。)同窗五載，2010屆的學生將告別母校，踏上舞蹈事業(yè)的征程，在畢業(yè)晚會上，大家齊聲痛聲哭道：How we wish it went so fast!真希望時間不要走得太快。

好不容易有個周某，車友會們都約好了去郊外放松一下，下起來傾盆大雨，大家都遺憾的說道: How we wish it wasn't raining. 要是現(xiàn)在不下雨該多好呀!
