agenda議事日程

agenda原為拉丁語(yǔ)agendum 'thing to be done'(待辦之事)的復(fù)數(shù)形式,但在現(xiàn)代英語(yǔ)中agenda通常被視為單數(shù)而以agendas作為其復(fù)數(shù)形式,用來(lái)表示“議事日程”或“待辦事項(xiàng)表”。據(jù)說(shuō),這是由于英國(guó)哲學(xué)家和法學(xué)家邊沁(Jeremy Bentham,1748-1832)的率先使用,才使agenda的這一用法得以廣泛流行。

與agenda情況多少有些類(lèi)似的是addenda(補(bǔ)遺)一詞。該詞原系拉丁文借用詞addendum之復(fù)數(shù)形式,但現(xiàn)在一般也用作復(fù)數(shù)。

client,customer,shopper,patron和guest都有客人的意思,但它們之間卻有細(xì)微的差別。

client n. a person who pays a professional person or organization for help and advice委托人,當(dāng)事人,顧客。當(dāng)你接受律師等職業(yè)人士的付費(fèi)服務(wù)時(shí),你就是client。The lawyer is serving a client.律師正在接待顧客。

customer n. someone who buys goods o services from a shop or business regularly顧客,customer通常指購(gòu)買(mǎi)東西或服務(wù)的人。Most of our customers like our new product.我們的絕大多數(shù)顧客都喜歡我們的新產(chǎn)品。

shopper n. a person who is shopping到商店買(mǎi)東西的人,當(dāng)你出去購(gòu)物時(shí),你就變成shopper了。The Silk Street is full of shoppers.秀水街?jǐn)D滿了購(gòu)物者。

patron n. a person who uses a particular shop or hotel, especially regularly老顧客,老主顧。為正式用詞。He was a patron for many of the renowned dancers of his times.當(dāng)時(shí)的許多著名舞蹈家都得到過(guò)他的贊助。

guest n. a person who is in someone's home by invitation to stay for a short time or for a meal客人,賓客,guest通常指住旅館的旅客。I'll phone you when our guests have left.我們的客人離開(kāi)后,我就打電話給你。
