Ivory tower 象牙塔
象牙塔（Ivory tower），法語(yǔ) la tour d'ivoire之譯。 Ivory Tower是根據(jù)圣經(jīng)《舊約雅歌》（the Old Testament, song of songs）第7章第4節(jié)，睿智富有的以色列王所羅門(mén)（Solomon）曾作詩(shī)歌1005首，其中《雅歌》都是愛(ài)情之歌。在第五首歌中，新郎是這樣贊美新娘的，“…Your neck is like an ivory tower. Your eyes are pools in Heshbon,by the gate of Bath-rabbim….”(……你的頸項(xiàng)如象牙塔；你的眼目像希實(shí)本巴特那拉并門(mén)旁的水池；……)。很清楚這里的“象牙塔”只是用來(lái)描述新娘美麗的頸項(xiàng)。
