Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng, Mayor Han Zheng and other senior municipal officials made separate visits to see Expo workers, security guards, cleaners and volunteers who spend long hours in the heat wave to ensure Expo"s smooth operation.
Yu expressed his appreciation and thanks for their hard work during a visit in the Pudong section of the Expo site on Sunday. He reminded them to take proper measures against heatstroke. The temperature reached 38.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Mayor Han Zheng and Executive Vice Mayor Yang Xiong made a tour of the Puxi section of the Expo site on Tuesday and presented workers with towels and shampoos. Han thanked volunteers for their contribution to the Expo and he believed the legacy of the world fair would inspire them in the future.
He encouraged Metro staff to keep up morale and ensure the safety and order of the city's public transport network.
Other city officials, Liu Yungen, Tu Guangshao, Shen Xiaoming, Yin Yicui, Feng Guoqin, Yang Zhengwu, visited various Expo venues, shuttle buses, taxi terminals, meteorological station, the press center and health clinics this week to boost staff morale and express thanks.
