Welcome to New York, the Empire State. I am the 30th largest state and the 11th to ratify the constitution back in 1788.
Way back in 1626, Duth traders bought a little piece of my land called Manhatten Island for $24.
Do you know how much it’s worth today? Try 30 billion! Of course we’re talking about New York City.
The biggest and the most bustling burg in America. No wonder it’s the financial center of the country.
Banks, business, Wall Street, the stock market and culture. Boy, have we got culture!
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln center with its ballets and operas, Broadway and its plays and theaters, Connegie Hall for the best in the performing arts.
It’s all here. The rest of the state is no slouch, either.
We’ve got industrial cities like Rochester and Buffalo. Not to mention my capital, Albany, where all the laws are made. And then there is my beautiful farmland, the mountainous Adirondack upland, and of course the world famous Niagara Falls. Well, it’s time for me to go, there’s always something going on and I don’t want to miss anything.
I’m New York, the Empire State.
