Tit-for-tat giving refers to giving a gift to someone who has bought you a gift. It is not a way to express love; instead, it is more similar to paying back money.

別人送給你一個禮物，你也買一個禮物送給那個人，這就是“以禮還禮”。這不是表達愛的一種方式，這種禮物交換更像是還錢。

Example:

We do tit-for-tat giving, and the end result is I buy you one, and you buy me one. We end up giving stuff that people will never use.

我們“以禮還禮”，結果就是我給你買一個，你也給我買一個。最終我們都送了別人永遠都不會用的東西。
