Lesson 7: In the Restaurant

在第七講中，您可以學(xué)習(xí)到如何詢問是否有問題以及在出現(xiàn)錯誤后如何道歉。您還記得嗎，我們在這一課之前聽到的對話情景是客人蒙納和杰克正在一家名叫金蓮花的餐館中就餐，酒店的接待員利奧向他們兩個人推薦的這家餐館。如果我沒有記錯的話，杰克點(diǎn)了脆皮魚配美味姜汁，蒙納則點(diǎn)了蒜味雞，但是她要求菜里面不要放辣椒?，F(xiàn)在就讓我們一起來聽聽餐館的服務(wù)員琴給這兩位客人端上了什么樣的菜肴吧。
Jean: Your Crispy Fish, and…… your Garlic Chicken and vegetables.
Mona: Oh dear.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies. Thischicken has chillies.
Jean: Oh, yes. I see. I’m sorry. I’ll get you another one straight away.
琴: 您點(diǎn)的脆皮魚來了，這是您點(diǎn)的蒜味雞和青菜

蒙納: 噢，天哪。
Mona: Oh dear.
琴: 請問有什么問題嗎?
Jean: Is there a problem?
蒙納: 好像有些不對。我點(diǎn)菜的時候要求不要放辣椒，但是這份蒜味雞里有辣椒呀。
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies. This
chicken has chillies.
琴: 噢，是這樣。非常抱歉。我立即就給您重新上一份同樣的菜。
Mona: No worries.
琴: 您還要喝點(diǎn)什么嗎?
Jean: Would you like anything else to drink?
蒙納: 不用了。謝謝。
Mona: No, thanks.
杰克: 我也不用了。謝謝。
Jack: I’m right, thank you.
請注意，在英語的習(xí)慣中，為某一個錯誤表示道歉并不意味著你已經(jīng)承認(rèn)了自己有錯。它只是讓客人感到你已經(jīng)注意到了客人的不愉快。一般來說，以英語為母語的客人在出現(xiàn)類似情況時通常會認(rèn)為服務(wù)人員應(yīng)該如此這般地表示歉意?？梢岳斫獾氖钱?dāng)錯誤不是由你而引發(fā)的時候，我們通常會覺得不大愿意向客人說道歉的話。那么你不妨這樣想一想，當(dāng)你向客人說一聲對不起的時候，你是在代表你的雇主向客人表示歉意呢。另外請不要忘記，當(dāng)你向客人道歉的時候一定要看著客人的眼睛，讓客人感受到你的誠意。好，現(xiàn)在讓我們來聽一聽當(dāng)蒙納指出她的菜里面被錯放了辣椒之后，琴是如何回應(yīng)的。
琴: 噢，是這樣。非常抱歉。

然后，琴就解釋了為什么會出現(xiàn)這樣的錯誤，并且還補(bǔ)充說:
琴: 給您造成了不便，我很抱歉。
Jean: I apologise for any inconvenience.

服務(wù)員，我的飯是涼的。

請注意聽琴在詢問客人是否有問題時是如何說的。
Jean: Is there a problem?
琴: 請問有什么問題嗎?
在同樣的情況下，她還可以這樣說: Is everything OK? 請問有什么問題嗎? 或者也可以這樣說: Is everything alright? 這兩句英語表達(dá)的是同樣的意思。請注意聽并跟著重復(fù)。

接下來請注意聽琴是如何向蒙納表示她可以立刻改正這個錯誤，解決客人提出的問題。
琴: 我立即就給您重新上一份同樣的菜。
Jean: I’ll get you another one straight away.
Straight away 在這里表示的意思是“立刻，現(xiàn)在”， 還記得嗎，在第二節(jié)的對話中，當(dāng)蒙納要求為她的房間提供一個熨斗時，利奧是這樣說的:

Leo: I’ll see to it right away.
I will see to it right away. 我立刻就處理這件事情。短語“ straight away” 和“ right away” 非常有用。你可以使用這兩個短語讓客人明白你對他們提出的要求或者問題非常重視，并且會立刻就采取相應(yīng)的行動?，F(xiàn)在讓我們一起來練習(xí)一下，請注意聽并跟著重復(fù)。
