Dan Robinson has been worried all week. LastTuesday he received a letter from the local police. Inthe letter he was asked to call at the station. Danwondered why he was wanted by the police, but hewent to the station yesterday and now he is notworried anymore. At the station, he wastold by asmiling policeman that his bicycle had been found.Five days ago, the policeman told him, the bicyclewas picked up in a small village four hundred milesaway. It is now being sent to his home by train.Dan was most surprised when he heard the news. He was amused too, because henever expected thebicycle to be found. It was stolen twenty years ago when Dan wasa boy of fifteen!

現(xiàn)在正用火車給他運(yùn)回家來(lái)。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn) be being sent現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí)的被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)。

8. Dan was most surprised when he heard the news.

當(dāng)?shù)ぢ牭竭@個(gè)消息時(shí)驚奇萬(wàn)分。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn) 與情感有關(guān)的動(dòng)詞一般既可用于主動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)，又可用于被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)：

1) sb.be done (動(dòng)詞的過(guò)去分詞謀人被……/某人感到……

2) sth +動(dòng)詞+ sb.某物使某人

與情感有關(guān)的動(dòng)詞有：

amuse使娛樂(lè);surprise使驚奇;worry擔(dān)心，使煩惱

please喜歡，使高興;satisfy使?jié)M意;frighten害怕，使驚恐

astonish使驚訝;annoy使煩惱;upset使心煩;dismay使沮喪

terrify 使恐怖;infuriate激怒;interest使感興趣;delight 使快樂(lè);excite使興奮

9、He was amused too, because he never expected the bicycle to be found.

他又感到非常好笑，因?yàn)樗麖奈粗竿禽v自行車還能被找到。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn) expect sth. to be done意為“期待著某事情被完成”。原句中the bicycle是expected的賓語(yǔ)，不定式to be found是賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)。

10、It was stolen twenty years ago when Dan was a boy of fifteen!

它是20年前丹還是一個(gè)15歲的孩子時(shí)被人偷走的!
