精靈鼠小弟 第51期:鼠小弟的座駕模型車

"Certainly," replied Stuart, looking into the driver's seat and blowing the horn.

“當然，”斯圖亞特回答著，察看了一下車座，又摁了摁喇叭。

But isn't it going to attract too much attention?

不過它會不會引起別人的注意?

Won't everybody stop and stare at such a small automobile?

這么小的車，每個人都會好奇地盯著它看的。

"They would if they could see you," replied Dr. Carey, "but nobody will be able to see you, or the car."“如果他們發(fā)現了你，當然會的，”凱里醫(yī)生回答。“不過沒人能看到你和你的車。”

"Why not?" asked Stuart.

“為什么不能?”斯圖亞特問。

Because this automobile is a thoroughly modern car.

因為這輛車只不過是輛模型車而已。

It's not only noiseless, it's invisible.

它不僅沒有噪音，而且也小得讓人看不見。

Nobody can see it.

所以沒人會注意到它的。

"I can see it," remarked Stuart.

“可我能，”斯圖亞特說。

"Push that little button!" said the Doctor, pointing to a button on the instrumentpanel.

“摁一下那個小按鈕!”醫(yī)生說著，指著指示盤上的一個按鈕。

Stuart pushed the button.

斯圖亞特摁了一下那個按鈕。

Instantly the car vanished from sight.

小汽車立刻就從眼前消失了。

"Now push it again," said the Doctor.

“現在再摁一下，”醫(yī)生說。

"How can I push it when I can't see it?" asked Stuart.

“我都看不到了，還怎么摁哪?”斯圖亞特問。

Feel around for it.

憑感覺摸摸看。

So Stuart felt around until his hand came in contact with a button.

于是斯圖亞特四處摸索起來，直到手碰到了一個按鈕為止。

It seemed like the same button, and Stuart pushed it.

感覺它好像和剛才那個一樣，斯圖亞特便摁了下去。
