He heard a slight grinding noise and felt something slip out from under his hand.

他聽到了一種輕微的摩擦聲，感覺有什么從手中滑了出去。

"Hey, watch out!" yelled Dr.Carey.

“嘿，當(dāng)心!”凱里醫(yī)生喊。

You pushed the starter button. She's off!

你摁的是啟動按鈕。她消失了!

There she goes! She's away! She's loose in the room--now we'll never catch her.

她跑了!她沒了!她消失在這屋子里了——現(xiàn)在我們再也找不到她了。

He grabbed Stuart up and placed him on a table where he wouldn't be hit by a runaway car.

他把斯圖亞特拎到一張桌子上，以免他被那輛汽車撞到。

"Oh, mercy! Oh, mercy!" Stuart cried when he realized what he had done.

“噢，天哪!噢，天哪!”當(dāng)明白自己剛才做了什么事情時，斯圖亞特叫道。

It was a very awkward situation.

現(xiàn)在的情況太糟了。

Neither Dr. Carey nor Stuart could see the little automobile, yet it was rushing all over the room under its own power, bumping into things.

凱里醫(yī)生和斯圖亞特都看不到那輛小車了，可它還在房間里到處沖撞著。

First there came a crashing noise over by the fireplace.

一陣嘩啦啦的響聲首先從壁爐那里傳出來。

The hearth broom fell down.

爐邊的掃帚被撞倒了。

Dr.Carey leapt for the spot and pounced on the place where the sound had come from.

But though he was quick, he had hardly got his hands on the place when there was another crash over by the wastebasket.

雖然他的動作很快，卻還是撲了一個空，而那嘩啦聲又跑到廢紙簍那里去了。

The Doctor pounced again.

于是醫(yī)生又往廢紙簍那里猛撲。

Pounce! Crash! Pounce! Crash!

猛撲!嘩啦!猛撲!嘩啦!

The Doctor was racing all over the room, pouncing and missing.

醫(yī)生撲遍了整個房間，卻還是屢撲屢空。
