中文有個成語叫做“千鈞一發(fā)”。顧名思義就就是指用一根頭發(fā)懸起千鈞重物。千鈞一發(fā)用來比喻極為緊急，極其危險的關頭，狀況等等。So how should we put it in English? We might as well listen to the following sentence: We made it. We made this train by a hair. 我們趕上了，我們在這千鈞一發(fā)之際趕上了火車。這句話中用了一個含有hair, h-a-i-r- 頭發(fā)這個單詞的一個短語來表述“千鈞一發(fā)”，它是：by a hair.我們可以想象火車還有一秒鐘就要開了，we will miss the train;但是就在這一秒鐘之內，we catch the train. So , how lucky we are! 可見當時情況是多么的緊急呀!Let's look at one more sentence: He rushed up bravely by a hair. 他在這千鈞一發(fā)的緊急關頭沖了上去。
