D: Wonderful! Look at our boys. They love the circus performance!
N :What are they doing? They are scary. I'm afraid that the acrobats might fall down to the ground.
D: Oh, the fling trapeze acts. Don't worry about them. They are skillful acrobats, and what is more. they have safety ropes fastened on them.
N: How do they pull this together?
D: It will take a lot of skills. And practice makes perfect.
N: Yes, they are doing such a hard and dangerous job. It's really breathtaking.

弱讀和同化
你聽(tīng)到的what are they發(fā)生了弱讀和同化,所以讀作/?w?d?ðe?/,而不是/?w?t?:ðe?/。在特殊疑問(wèn)句中,句首的特殊疑問(wèn)詞一般要強(qiáng)讀。但在較快的語(yǔ)速中,也可以弱讀。弱讀時(shí)特殊疑問(wèn)詞常與后面的詞一起互相影響而同化,從而發(fā)生音變。如:
What is he/?w?d?z?/doing?
他在干什么?
What is she/?w?d???/writing?
她在寫(xiě)什么?
What am I/?w?d?ma?/singing?
我在唱什么?
