be outnumbered直譯過(guò)來(lái)就是：“數(shù)量上被超過(guò)了”，引申過(guò)來(lái)就是：“寡不敵眾”，形容由于人數(shù)較少而輸?shù)舯荣惖?。因此，?dāng)美國(guó)人說(shuō)"As being outnumbered, we failed."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"The number of our attendees was not enough so we failed."、"Our teammates are not as many a sour opponent's, so we failed."。
