段落功能與意義的再現(xiàn)（3）

　　(14)那是動亂的第二年吧，我被劃進(jìn)了“黑幫”隊伍里。我在那長長的“黑幫”隊伍里倒不害怕，最怕的就是游斗汽車開到自己家門口，這一招太損了。嗨，越害怕越還有鬼，有一次汽車就真的開到了家門口。那八旬的老母親看見了汽車上的我，嘴抖了幾抖，閉了眼睛，扶著墻，身子像泥一樣癱了下去。妻子竟忘了去扶持母親，站在那兒，眼睛都直了，跟個傻子一般。

　　In the second of those tumultuous years, I was labeled one of the "reactionary gang". What I feared most was not being forced to queue up among this gang of so many, but the vicious practice of being publicly denounced on a truck in front of my own house. Well, fear or no fear, the lot fell on me soon enough. When the truck drove to the gate of my house, my mother, who was already in her eighties, spotted me on the truck. With lips trembling and eyes shut, she first leaned against the wall, then collapsed, weak and limp, like soft mud on the ground. Meanwhile, my wife just stood there dumbfounded like a blockhead, forgetting even to help my mother up.

　　該段落分兩個句群。第一個句群是前兩句，描述自己害怕被游斗的心理。第二句群敘述自己被游斗的經(jīng)歷對母親和妻子的傷害。連接這兩部分內(nèi)容的語句“嗨，越害怕越還有鬼”是一個承上啟下的重要環(huán)節(jié)，在整個段落中起溝通過渡作用。譯文也相應(yīng)地將其作為敘述的重點。但沒有拘泥于詞句形式上的對應(yīng)，而是突出了“the lot fell on me soon enough”的信息，將前后內(nèi)容自然銜接起來，使譯文取得了較好的連貫效果。
